I found this 1940s telephone on a street in Hameln, Germany. I imagined it to become part of one of my works. It reminded me of a story back in India. We had many such public telephones on railway stations in Mumbai. One day in the 1990s I saw this boy (he must have been 10) painting the walls of the railway station. When he came around the telephone he started painting over it. I was curious and asked him, why are you painting the telephone. He said, what do you mean? I was asked to paint the wall, it is part of the wall!
